Unlocking Dockstader

Tod Dockstader was one of the most important contributors to the art of the late 20th century in the United States. As he worked on commercial and educational projects for a variety of clients he quiet;y pursued the limits of recorded sound exploration using the machines laid out in the studio as an electrically fueled orchestra. A willful and warm collaborator with other artists, he continued producing new sound works even as his mind was fading from Alzheimer's. The film explores the life and art of Tod Dockstader without ignoring the pain the loss of memory brings.
